They don’t make bank heist movies like they used to. They couldn’t could they? There are no local banks left to rob.
We’ve been robbed of the chance to walk into a bank in Darlaston too.
Nearly half of all the nations branches have closed since 2015. The effect trickles down into our communities as grand old buildings are reduced to nail salons or vape shops.
On top of that the number of ‘free to use’ cash machines across the region has fallen a quarter since before the pandemic.
If we can’t get to a bank or cash machine how are we supposed to splash out in the January sales? Many transactions aren’t all high tech or card business.
Is it really unthinkable for banks to provide a guarantee of a minimum level of service for all communities. Not nationalisation just good customer practice.
Is it not the role of regulatory authorities to set up a joint agreement between companies that would keep a bank open on each local high street?

What a mess, with our money too.
